About the Computer Guy

Shane Limbeck, The Computer Guy of Redmond, OR

Hi, I'm Shane Limbeck, and I'm the Computer Guy here in Redmond, Oregon. Computers and I go way back. My first memory of computers was when I was four years old. I was writing my Christmas wish list to Santa and near the top of that list was a computer. I really had no idea what a computer was at that point, and even still, a 286 running on DOS carried a ridiculous pricetag. At those prices, my parents weren't exactly compelled to buy me even a Commodore64, so I had to wait until I was nine to get my sticky little fingers on my first computer, an old 286 that was upgraded to a 486, with 2 MB of RAM, and running DOS and Windows 3.1.

Guess where I've been ever since? Ok, so I've upgraded about a dozen times since then, but you get the idea.

Over the years I've repaired hundreds of computers, built dozens of systems from scratch, administrated networks, built websites, mastered music, compiled video projects, managed databases, transcribed books, organized and prepared all media for big multimedia events (I might add single-handedly and on extremely short deadlines, not to brag :D), and bailed offices out of jams when their Quickbooks computers took unexpected dumps. I've been around computers for 15 years solid, and I've yet to meet a computer that can whip me.

But don't get me wrong, while I'm really smart, study a lot, love technology and am generally amazing with computers, I don't make a very good nerd. I'm passionate about health and fitness, I enjoy the great outdoors here in Central Oregon, and I love to travel, see the world, meet new people and I simply just enjoy living my life, even away from the computer.

So what's up with this "Amazing Shane" stuff? Are you conceited or what?

Well, maybe I'm a little conceited, but that's not why I throw around that name. It's a nickname that was given to me several years ago while I was working at a church as the administrator & technical guru. EVERYONE would come to me if they needed to know something regarding a ministry department, a technical computer question, a health/fitness question or something else, I just always seemed to have the answers that people were looking for. Over time, people began to notice how I seemingly knew everything or could at least find the answer in a short period of time, and everyone started to call me, "The Amazing Shane." Hey, what can I say? When you've got it, you've got it, and it ain't pride if it's true.
